Dear Men
Please accept this letter as notice of my resignation from the full-time post of being a man.
I would like to inform you that I no longer identify with the gender that was assigned to me at birth, which is Male. I now identify as a genderqueer person (synonymous to non-binary).
I would like to say that I have enjoyed being a part of your team, but I haven’t. I never truly was. Being a man comes with a set of archetypes which are becoming obsolete in the 21st century, and make me cringe when I am asked to measure up to them due to the way I look.
The hegemonic hierarchies western MAN-kind created, were built by oppressing multiple groups of people based on their race, gender, sexuality, class, ethnicity and more, in order for you to accumulate wealth, power and status. The toxicity of such actions still poisons our lives and resigning from masculinity is my way of prioritising my (mental) wellbeing, whilst playing my part towards building a world structured on equity, fairness and kindness.
I know that you might not understand nor agree with my decision, it is however my personal truth.
